Biosafety Research Pact Signed by CCRH & MAHE
The Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, in collaboration with the Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV), a constituent unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, inaugurated a five-day residential workshop titled “Biosafety & Outbreak Simulation Training 2025” at the MAHE campus. The workshop, scheduled from October 6 to 10, 2025, aims to enhance biosafety practices, outbreak response capabilities, and overall preparedness among CCRH research scientists.
This specialized capacity-building program has been designed to equip participants with essential skills to respond effectively to emerging public health threats, thereby strengthening the Ministry of AYUSH’s initiatives in public health preparedness.
The workshop generated widespread interest across the country, attracting applications from CCRH’s 33 institutes and units, spanning 22 states and Union Territories. Following a rigorous online assessment conducted by MIV, 30 meritorious research scientists were selected from 14 states/UTs to participate in this intensive training program.
The inaugural session commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Chiranjay Mukhopadhyay, Director, MIV. Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the workshop. In his address, Dr. Kaushik emphasized the importance of inter-institutional collaboration between CCRH and MAHE in fostering a resilient healthcare system. He also underlined the role of Homoeopathy in managing epidemics and pandemics, highlighting its integration into national health preparedness strategies.
A significant milestone of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CCRH and MAHE, marking the beginning of a collaborative partnership in research, education, and training. The MoU was signed by Dr. Subhash Kaushik, Director General, CCRH, and Dr. P. Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sharath Kumar Rao K, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, commended the initiative and reaffirmed MAHE’s commitment to supporting collaborative research and training efforts in biosafety and public health.
The workshop is being coordinated by Dr. Suhana P. Azis, Research Officer (Homoeopathy)/Scientist-II, CCRH; Dr. Sreekanth Gopinathan Pillai, Associate Professor; Dr. Sudheesh N., Assistant Professor; and Mr. Anup Jayaram, Lecturer, MIV, Manipal.
The Biosafety & Outbreak Simulation Training 2025 is a landmark step towards empowering CCRH scientists with advanced knowledge in biosafety and outbreak management, reinforcing the collaborative mission of CCRH and MAHE to safeguard public health.
