Eligibility Criteria

The STSH 2026 programme is open exclusively to undergraduate Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) students, from the second year of the BHMS course up to the internship period. Only Indian nationals studying in recognized Homoeopathic medical colleges in India are eligible to apply. Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and students enrolled in foreign institutions are not eligible to participate in the programme.

The research project must be conducted in the student’s own medical college under the supervision of a permanent full-time faculty member employed by the same institution. The guide may belong to any department of the college, provided they are a regular faculty member. However, part-time consultants, visiting faculty, residents, tutors, pool officers, and postgraduate students are not eligible to serve as research guides under the STSH programme.

Each faculty guide may supervise a maximum of two students under the programme. However, each student must undertake a unique research topic, and two or more students are not permitted to submit proposals on the same research topic. If multiple proposals are received on an identical topic, they are liable to be rejected. While a student may have one main guide and additional co-guides, CCRH will officially recognize only one principal guide for all administrative and programme-related purposes.

Procedure

The Research Studentship Programme is conducted entirely online, and no hard copies are required. Students must register and submit their research proposal between 1 July and 31 August each year. The Council announces the results in December, and selected candidates must submit the completed research report by 30 September of the following year. The research guide is responsible for supervising the project and ensuring timely submission. Selection is based on expert evaluation of the proposal, and the Council’s decision is final. Studies involving human or animal participants require approval from the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC) or Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), along with informed consent for human participants, before the research begins.
