17th Dr Batra’s Positive Health Awards 2025
The 17th edition of Dr Batra’s Positive Health Awards, supported by Bajaj Auto Limited, honoured a group of extraordinary individuals whose stories of resilience, grit, and courage stand as powerful testaments to the human spirit. The ceremony celebrated those who transformed life-altering illness, disability, or adversity into sources of inspiration and social impact.
Anchored by Dr Akshay Batra — Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Dr Batra’s Healthcare — and actor Mandira Bedi, the evening saw acclaimed actor and cancer-survivor Manisha Koirala present trophies and cash awards of ₹1 lakh each to the winners. The event was attended by more than 1,000 guests from diverse sectors, underlining the growing significance of the Awards as a platform for recognising courage and social contribution.
Awardees and Their Remarkable Journeys This year’s five awardees were honoured for their outstanding achievements and unyielding spirit:
Tinkesh Kaushik — A triple-amputee who defied all odds to trek to the Everest Base Camp, redefining what is possible despite physical limitations.
Amala Pankaj — A survivor of spinal injury, who transformed her journey into advocacy and visibility as a social-media influencer.
Rajinder Kumar — A Paralympic gold medallist whose sporting achievements exemplify perseverance and excellence.
S. Raman — A person living with Muscular Dystrophy and serving as Secretary of Amar Seva Sangham, symbolising strength and service despite physical challenges.
Krishna Kumar Samania — Recipient of the People’s Choice Award, a Paralympic gold medallist whose recognition reflects not only sporting excellence but public admiration
Their stories — from disability to daring, from survival to social contribution — stand as powerful reminders: obstacles can be transformed into opportunities to inspire and uplift others.
The evening also featured inclusive cultural performances — a visually challenged orchestra and a wheelchair dance act, among others — reinforcing the event’s message of dignity, inclusion, and the transformative power of positive health.
In a gesture symbolising broader horizons, special guest Dr Bu Abdullah, who travelled from Dubai for the ceremony, extended an invitation to host the Awards in Dubai next year.
Beyond the Awards night, Dr Batra’s Healthcare reiterated its commitment to inclusive healthcare through community outreach and programmes that empower individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
In a world where adversity often brings isolation, the 17th Dr Batra’s Positive Health Awards shine light on human resilience. By celebrating survivors, para-athletes, and social advocates who turned hardships into hope, the event underscores that health — physical, emotional, societal — is not merely about medicine but about dignity, inclusion and spirit. For many struggling with illness or disability, these stories can serve as beacons of inspiration. For society, they highlight the importance of empathy, support, and recognising strength beyond conventional definitions.
