NEET scores mandatory for AYUSH course admission 2019
Candidates aspiring for seats in AYUSH(Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) under-graduate (UG) courses have to appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2019.
The Department of AYUSH, in a press release issued on Saturday, said it has become mandatory following directions issued by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. The release also stated that the allotment of seats for AYUSH courses for the 2019-20 academic year will be done through the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), based on the merit list of NEET 2019.
Applications can be submitted online for Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani and BNYS (Nature Cure and Yoga) undergraduate courses. Candidates can visit www.ntaneet.nic.in for more information.
The decision has cleared the air on the admission to AYUSH UG courses, as last month, following an interim order by the Karnataka High Court, the KEA had decided that students who had not qualified for NEET could seek admission for the current academic year.
The interim order was passed after some colleges approached the court stating that the number of NEET-qualified candidates was insufficient on account of the initial lack of clarity regarding the qualifying exam for AYUSH.
